Review by hotel critic
During my recent stay at the Bear Hotel by Greene King Inns, I was pleasantly surprised by the charming atmosphere of this historical coaching inn. Although the room was a tad on the snug side, the high ceilings, ample facilities, and immaculate cleanliness made for a cozy retreat after a busy day exploring the surrounding areas. The hotel's fantastic location just two minutes from both bus and train stations allowed for easy forays to Portsmouth and Chichester, making it a convenient choice for my visit. What truly stood out was the delightful breakfast, which included a hearty full English that set me up perfectly for the day ahead. As a former food critic, I appreciated the menu’s variety and was equally charmed by the friendly staff who really went the extra mile—particularly during check-in when I was met with personalized transport advice. In the evenings, the cosy Winston Bar with its crooked walls felt like the perfect place to unwind with a glass of smooth Mis Amigos Chocolate Cream Tequila Liqueur, enjoying the ambiance by an open fire.
